I dont understand what do you mean? if you select that "show animation" it will be exactly that, border of the display will light up in some colors, depending of app, for example if it is whatsapp it will blink green, if it is Viber it will be violet, etc

What am I missing here? Are you both talking about mi9t? I dont have any "show animation" option in my notifications settings.

settings - ambient display and lock screen - notifications find the screen reactivate or show the screen or do not reactivate the screen
