New to Xiaomi, Mi 8 wont allow google Pay :(

Hello,

I kinda expected this..
I really need google pay to work.. but alas.. a chinese phone import.. google aint allowing it.

I cant live without contactless anymore and this archaic security mesure of googles is uneeded.

My phones running MIUI Gloabl 9.5 (Stable) 9.5.13.0.

Its a MI8 (MI803E1A) 128gb model.

So I know its possible to use google pay with these.. could anyone guide me on how? I am not alien to rooting custom roms etc.

Is your bootloader unlocked ?
Is yes, the best solution I see is to install xiaomi.eu roms, featuring SafetyNet passed i.e. Google Pay working.

I'm not familiar with a solution for locked bootloader.

Yeah it arrived unlocked and with google services installed.. so presume this maybe why?

So the roms here will fix it ace, great to know

I'm not an expert, but yeah my understanding is that stock rom + Bootloader unlocked or Root will fail with SafetyNet test.
xiaomi.eu surely found a way to bypass that, as well as Magisk, if you need root

Yeah that makes sense, I remember my old Oneplus One having the issue for running cyangenmod at the time.

Thats ace they have found a bypass here though, fantastic.

Is there a guide/write up for Mi 8 anywhere?
I noticed for a mi 8, i need to check for some extra roll back protection before?


This is new to me in terms of fastboot etc.

I personally had no issue installing the stable rom, and then change for weekly rom.
