Would a wipe from the recovery menu help? You just need to format as the 2 roms have different partition layouts, that's why is doesn't boot but I don't know why fastboot is not working. It should be instant. Hold vol down button while rebooting.

Interesting thing - I mostly install the new version in recovery mode, after install I choose wipe cache & dalvik, knowing from the past it doesn't work - but today it works. Strange but ok

Wiping dalvik-cache is not needed and can in fact be detrimental both to battery life and performance.

Only the calendar app is disappointing:
It seems not to be the one for HyperOS, notifications in notification area are not having the app icon and are not aggregated like for other apps.

APK name com.android.calendar

Furthermore it only has 3 views: month, 3 days and 1 day. The 1 day view is not at all like earlier, it has a desk calendar setting which shows a huge daily picture but there is no agenda view like earlier on MIUI.

Nope, but I think there are 2 possibilities:

- either there is a bug in the calendar app in the xiaomi.eu ROM as the screenshots of the Chinese calendar app on https://hyperosupdates.com/apps/com.android.calendar show 5 different views for the calendar app

Over 1 year-old screenshots. They replaced the tabs menu with a bottom bar and added the 1-day view months ago.

No. The Global app is always outdated, doesn't have the new widgets, and also has the bottom bar with 3 tabs only.
They made some changes for 17.0.1 but it's not part of any public ROM yet (HyperOS 3.0 looks like), you'll have to wait until it hits China Stable/Beta builds.

That doesn't sound right.
Have you wiped and reloaded the firmware?
You can also flash the modem again.

More details needed here. Was it an upgrade? What firmware and version did you have before?

Describe no network connection more. What is the phone doing?
