Cannot Flash Twrp In 7.2.9

Hi,
I cannot seem to flash TWRP on the new 7.2.9. After installing the update, I had my bootloader re locked. The phone was working after the update but there was excessive battery drain. I found that the Mi Note Pro zip file was re uploaded as it fixed the battery drain. I unlocked the bootloader but found that I cannot access TWRP. I tried booting into TWRP using "fastboot boot twrp.img" and got the following output:

FAILED (remote: dtb not found)
finished. total time: 1.064s

After that, I flashed my phone with the Official China MIUI Developer Rom found at http://en.miui.com/a-234.html with it set to clear all user data, I managed to get into the Chinese bootloader bunderled with the China Rom but still cannot flash TWRP. I suspect that a specific TWRP version must be used for android 7.0.

If my theory is correct, could someone send me the correct TWRP version?

Hi I have found a workaround:
WARNING: BACKUP DATA BEFORE PERFORMING THIS WORKAROUND
THIS WILL ERASE ALL DATA
0. Unlock Bootloader
1. Download Mi note Pro China stable image : http://update.miui.com/updates/v1/fullromdownload.php?d=leo&b=F&r=cn&n=
2: Download MIUI ROM Flashing Tool : http://api.bbs.miui.com/url/MiFlash
3. Unlock Bootloader then Flash china stable rom with XiaomiFlash with the FlashAll.bat
4. Flash TWRP : Download
5. Boot up TWRP with vol-up + power
6. Download xiaomi.eu 7.2.9 rom
7. Use MTP and transfer the xiaomi.eu 7.2.9 rom then install it.
8. Boot it up
9. Restore data and delete Chinese apps
10. Enjoy!

Just few questions for who tried:
Does the Xiaomi.eu version lock the bootlader?
Installing Nougat (new xiaomi.eu rom) delete sdcard?
Is the battery problem still present in the actual rom links (androidfilehost, miuif, megadysk)?

Locks the bootloader, doesn't wipe sdcard unless you want to, the battery problem is solved.

When trying to go into TWRP it failed with the same error as yours. So now I'm stuck and don't know what to do.

The guide on the official page xiaomi.eu 7.2.9 is very wrong and not precise infact I bootlooped my phone but then I have fixed it putting an old rom and then installing the last before Android 7 and then 7.2.9 (Android 7).
But after install 7.2.9 you need to put new TWRP recovery as above link, and install through it the Supersu zip 2.7.9 (last) to grant root access:

Thanks for the reply, I managed to do that yesterday following exactly the same steps.

Although before installing 7.2.9, and after bootlooping my phone same as you did, I just installed a random old rom instead of the Last before Android 7. It worked out good.

And most importantly, when asked if you want to install SU after 7.2.9, just DON'T. This will f**k up the whole installation process and you'll be in a bootloop.

Yep I did ... all worked well. But again, I put it separately, after I installed the ROM. I downloaded the proper twpr, then the proper SU and then installed it
