If you update the existing rom with the new rom, you will have problems.
Do not update the new rom, install the new full rom, this way you will have no problems.
I upgraded from version 9.8.8 to version 9.8.12 and when the phone started it got weird, and just hung up.
I then did the clean root installation, and the phone went smoothly.
