Global Xiaomi 14 to Xiaomi.eu flash - Feedback needed

Yes, before I read this thread, I wasn't sure if it was needed for all devices. However, this clarified that it is only needed for chinese devices. I'd be willing to do it to save some money, but the global version has better band support for me in the US anyways.

purchase advice on Xiaomi 14 Ultra

I will be in Europe next month and after. How hard is it to just buy it in another country and take it home with me? Or does it have to be ordered online and shipped?

purchase advice on Xiaomi 14 Ultra

Check that your bands are covered in the china version. Also, it seems to be more difficult to unlock the china version (to install the EU rom). There's another thread that goes into the details of that. As for the ROM, I don't recall the 14 Ultra listed yet. I assume it will be supported...

purchase advice on Xiaomi 14 Ultra

Same here. I'm on the Huawei P30 Pro. Battery isn't as good anymore and looking for a replacement. This seems like the right phone for me perhaps but I'm a little nervous on the band support for the US. It should be adequate but carriers are changing so much these days it's hard to predict...

Global Xiaomi 14 to Xiaomi.eu flash - Feedback needed

That's good to hear. I was getting confused reading about NCUNLCOCK. I'm disappointed they decided to drop band 12 support

    NCUNLCOCK?

I thought that Google Pay still works with the EU rom Good to know. Does Android Auto work? Those are the two things I hear people complain about the most

    NCUNLCOCK?

Oppo and Vivo phones can be unlocked easily for free? I thought that Google Pay still works with the EU rom Some posts say that they are doing this to prevent exports from china. With the global version being launched, will the unlock process remain so difficult? Though being in the US...

    Global vs China

I completely agree. I think it is an artifact of the phone basically being designed for china 1st, then it seems like the global part is an afterthought. I don't really know. The information is clearly published so I wouldn't say it is hidden. Especially someone like me in the US has to go...

    Global vs China

I too am annoyed that Xiaomi is missing some important bands even on a "global" model" However, the bands that the phone supports are published so it is not "hidden" and it was your choice to purchase the phone. I'm hoping the 14 series global version might do better

    Global vs China

Is it important that this is setup? What happens if this adjustment is not made? (ie. what happens of the "software" tries a band that the hardware does not support? Does it just move on? does the phone crash?)

    Global vs China

Thanks for clarifying. I assume the hardware (band coverage) for every global variant is the same

    Global vs China

That's why I asked as it is confusing reading. So there is a China ROM (that comes with the China phone) and a Global ROM (that comes with the Global phone). China ROM, I'd expect somethings not working with google stuff. Global ROM, I'd exact everything with google is working and banking...

    Global vs China

I'm just surprised that Google Wallet would not work out of box when buying a Global variant of this phone

    Global vs China

Is there a difference between the "Global" and "EEA" rom?
  15. E

    Global vs China

Yes, I think the only advantage to the Global version is that if the EU rom doesnt work for me (or stops in the future), I can always fall back to the global rom (on a locked BL) and still have things "working"
  16. E

    Global vs China

That's what I thought. So (other than bands), it doesnt matter which variant of the phone I start with.
  17. E

    Global vs China

I know what bands are supported from the specs. but if a ROM can indeed change that, then I have no idea. That's a question for the ROM developer.
  18. E

    Global vs China

I thought I read a different post that that the ROM had nothing to do with the band coverage? If it is changeable, I'd be very interested to know what options I have for which bands? In the US, it doesn't have the greatest coverage. For example, in the US, it would be ideal to have...

    US user experience

I know that SOME apps won't work on the custom ROM if they are able to detect the BL unlocked or other things. For US users, which apps, don't work?

    Global vs China

Is there any difference between buying the global vs China version of the 13U in terms of using the EU rom? I know there are differences in band coverage. I'm in the US so no warranty regardless. Does the ROM work better on one vs the other? The only advantage I can see is that with the global...
