DO you have fastboot on your pc? You'll need it to install TWRP on the phone, then you can install the ROM and get ota's :)

Yes, it's the only recovery available provided by xiaomi.eu so it should work.

On my Mi4 LTE it works perfectly. Did you altready try wipe all and install?

It's better if you do a wipe system too, as the SMIUI may have different system settings, altough you can try install it directly too, but do a backup before!
