Nope! Just directly unlock as your permission binds to your account, not the device. But if it fails at 99% saying that your device 'isn't binded' then all you need to do is just wait at least a week before trying again

You can just unlock straight away and install instructions is as described in the OP. Simply log in to your MI5 and unlock accordingly. If it said something like current device not binded or some sort wait for at least a week before attempting again. Nothing happens if you attempt lots of time...

Nope, I guess. Maybe Xiaomi themselves actually discouraging unlocking their devices by making the usual straight-up process into a super tedious one. Mine took a week even.
