OK. Try this. Uninstall whatever Google stuff you have. Then install the Google installer from the mi app store (baidu results, the blue paw icon). Do not use before restart. Login after restart, and try to download something. You may fail. Logout from Google under phone>settings>accounts, then...

I use my QC2 compatible nexus 6 charger, and it tends to take around 2 hours to charge.

Had to transfer the EU ROM zip file after the fact. Can boot now, it appears I have lost root privileges. Will tinker further once I get some sleep. I am going to also assume my bootloader got locked in the process earlier.

yeah done installed and rebooted. when i tried to reboot the phone to twrp by hitting power and up, i dont get the twrp boot menu. i get the mi recovery page when you are greeted with an image of a phone being plugged by a usb cable.
