You should be able to. I use both fastrom and without it, flash through twrp on my redmi 2. No problem.

Better install through custom recovery. Make a nandroid backup. If something wrong, you can rollback to old rom.

All other notifications works except from reminder app. I tried the same app on another rom and it works fine.
