I have used the GPS both in the car and walking with Endomondo. I've had no problems at all, it connects just as fast maybe even faster than my S7 Edge.

Install ROM in TWRP, install SuperSU in TWRP, wipe cache and dalvik. Reboot system. Done.

The only thing I can think of is to try to wipe cache and dalvik in TWRP, maybe that will fix it.

The Redmi Note 3 bought on Gearbest will not update with the installed updater and downloaded official ROM. It was an error message saying the installed ROM is not an official ROM. I had to install the official ROM using Miflash.

On Redmin Note 3, also from Gearbest and locked bootloader, this was not possible due to the unofficial ROM installed. But nice if it is possible on the Max, you could try and report if it works using the updater.
