I had the same find my device error with official rom. I rebooted the phone with power button and it booted back to home screen

No problem, I am sure someone else will need it :) @masterross, have you tried to download the rom again? I have had absolutely no problem with flashing it so the only thing I can think of is that something went wrong while downloading

I am not sure from your post if you did the wipe before or after flashing the rom. If you wiped it after flashing the rom, you shouldn't wipe system because it deletes the OS.

No idea, I guess it's the new rom... I did a clean install - wiped cache, dalvik, internal storage and data and then flashed the rom. Flashed supersu, cleaned dalvik and cache and booted to system. Set it up as a new device since miui backup was turned off in previous roms due to battery issues...

Yes, just check the table on page 1 for the correct rom. You need to unlock your bootloader officially with miflash unlock tool if you still haven't

I don't know, I've never used twrp backup. I use titanium backup and I've restored app data with it after flashing the rom. I've read somewhere on the forum that the settings backup shouldn't be restore since it's a different android and MIUI version so, other than app data, I've also restored...
