I just tried his solution last night with latest EU Stable ROM and now my GPS works very fast. Try to follow his explanation carefully and don't forget you need root access (flash Magisk 17.2).

Got it. I just successfully flashed the latest EU Stable and Magisk 17.2 for my Mi 8, now into the reconfiguration, apps reinstallation, etc.. After that I'm gonna try to replace the GPS.conf file and will report back shortly. Thank you very much for your guidance, it really helped me out :)

Already tried this. At first, it seems like the settings is work. However, after a day, the GPS is just died again.

Is it optimized for EU (European) region or for MIUI EU ROM? @RainGater Do you think it would be better if I set the server to pool.ntp.org (worldwide) rather than pointing to a very specific region? So, I don't need to change the configuration when I travelled to other regions/countries.

You are correct, with Global Stable, my GPS is always work accurately, anytime. Since I don't have any root access, does anybody here mind to share the default gps.conf file extracted from latest Global Stable? I want to compare it with the ones that suggested by RainGater.

I think you need to flash the dm verity and encryption disabler after you choose wipe data in twrp and after you flash the EU rom.

May I know why do you want to avoid installing custom recovery? With custom recovery you get more useful features. It's non-sense to keep the stock recovery, even you can install the stock ROM from en.miui.com through the custom recovery such as TWRP or CWM, so what is the different does it make?
