Ok. This essentially means contactless payments on Google pay stop working after the mi EU ROM 12.5.1 update. Something important to consider for people moving to this update.

Current build is 12.0.22 on mi 11. This is a Chinese model that has been flashed with MI EU ROM. The Chinese characters are found while installing an app from a browser after downloading an APK and checking for permissions before clicking install. Attached are screenshots

The phone does not turn off the screen during a WhatsApp audio or Google duo audio call when the phone is held in the hand. This feature works normally in other stock miui 12 implementations. The ROM installed is the latest eu stable rom [xiaomi.eu_multi_MI11_V12.0.22.0.RKBCNXM_v12-11-fastboot].
