Unless you have the source code for MIUI, I'm not entirely certain it's directly applicable? Part of it may be, where copying drivers etc is related, but that's more intended for device makers, or building Android from scratch, isn't it? Or am I mistaken?

Most has already been converted to MDPI by some other people over at XDA, I think it was for the Wildfire, but apparently it just needed the APK's applied to the ROM or something, I can't remember, it was 2AM when I found it ... But yeah have a look at the XDA forums :)

Factory Reset usually solves those issues. Had it happen on CM6. Flashed to MIUI, did factory reset and no more problems! :)
