Yes CN: Bigger (and better) battery, more options, cheaper Global: Easier and free to unlock, more bands IMO, the only reason to buy Global is if one needs the extra bands

You'll get those benefits whether you flash the rom on the CN or Global version of the phone.

If the CN version bands are ok for you and you are ok with the unlock process, then I see no reason to not buy the CN version. You save money, get a bigger battery and get more options. I would gladly do this option except the bands

I know your point but I sympathize with the previous poster. Xiaomi is trying to directly compete with Apple and Samsung with its phone. At least with their non-China versions. On hardware, it certainly has them beat. The software side is more dubious. We "suffer" with bugs to have options...

I know nothing about how this works but you can try to guess. Xiaomi 14 released 1Nov. If you look at the Hyper OS threads, the first one with it was 18Nov. 18 days. Xiaomi 13 Ultra released 12 April. If you look at the MIUI theads, the first one was 13 May. a month. So I would guess 3-4...

Yes, before I read this thread, I wasn't sure if it was needed for all devices. However, this clarified that it is only needed for chinese devices. I'd be willing to do it to save some money, but the global version has better band support for me in the US anyways.

I will be in Europe next month and after. How hard is it to just buy it in another country and take it home with me? Or does it have to be ordered online and shipped?

Check that your bands are covered in the china version. Also, it seems to be more difficult to unlock the china version (to install the EU rom). There's another thread that goes into the details of that. As for the ROM, I don't recall the 14 Ultra listed yet. I assume it will be supported...

Same here. I'm on the Huawei P30 Pro. Battery isn't as good anymore and looking for a replacement. This seems like the right phone for me perhaps but I'm a little nervous on the band support for the US. It should be adequate but carriers are changing so much these days it's hard to predict...
