Basically it's impossible to unlock unless you are Chinese. I got the chance to unlock when I travel back to China, and spent $70 for unlocking. FYI: The official way requires you and account holder to be in the exact same province in China, otherwise account will be banned.

Xiaomi just released the Global ROM today, and I have it installed on my Chinese Xiaomi 14 Ultra. Everything works like a charm, even though there is hardware difference like battery capacity etc.

The battery and performance app on China rom disconnect FCM once you lock your phone. You can try install an EU rom one to get FCM connected even when you lock it. Try search it on apk mirror. It should be named like 'com.miui.powerkeeper_4.2.00.apk'
