Managed to get this to work! Somehow updater had wiped persist partition. Fixed it by flashing this persist.img. It is done from TWRP, just need to mount Persist partition first, then flash that image and voila. @Pachenko_Gr you might have the same thing going on. Test if light or proximity...

Nope, I just updated from updater app. I don't even know where this wipe Persist happens. I can only see Dalvik / ART Cache, Cache, System, Vendor, Data, Internal Storage and USB-OTG in the wipe menu.

None of the sensors (gyroscope, light, proximity etc) work in Mi 9. Any ideas before flashing back to MIUI 10?

Same problem here with MI 9. I did dirty flash from previous version.

It fixes only SafetyNet, status bar icons and text are still not aligned properly.

Mi9, same problem here in lock screen. In home screen it's ok.

Global MI 9 here, I don't have either of these problems. I did dirty flash over 9.8.1.
